When the heat is too hot.

TGIF Word
Topic: When the heat is too hot.

Isaiah 45:9
What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.
Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,
‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’

God created us in his image and his likeness.  He made us in all shapes and sizes and all colors and creeds. We are all unique and we all serve a purpose.

In shaping us and developing us we will face difficult times. We will struggle and suffer. In order for us to serve our purpose, God has to mold us and shape us. God is the potter and we are the clay. He is like a refiner and a purifier of silver (Zch 13:9, Mal 3:2-3). We are the silver.

What is the process of purifying silver?

The silversmith holds a piece of silver over the fire and lets it heat up. In refining silver, one needs to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames are hottest as to burn away all impurities. The silversmith has to sit in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. He not only has to sit there holding the silver, but he has to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it is in the fire. If the silver is left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The silversmith knows when the silver is fully refined when he can see his image in it.

God knows when its too hot

God is sovereign, holy, and righteous. Everything he does is right. We don't have to like it or understand it. Sometimes we go through things because we have impurities, and he needs to remove them, so we can shine; So he can see himself in us. Sometimes we go through things because we are mature Christians and he needs us to be an example to others. Sometimes we go through trials for the test.
How much do we really love God?
Do we really love God?
Do we only love him when everything is going well?

We are the clay, God is the potter. He molds us and shapes us into his design. The more resistance we give the longer we may be in the fire. When we go through trials, do we tell God what he should do?
Do we tell the Creator of the Universe that he his molding and shaping us incorrectly?
Do we curse God when things don't go our way?

Trials
Some of us have lost our house, our child(ren), our jobs/ business, our health, our mate, our loved ones.
Know that this life is temporary. Trust in God. Acknowledge him in all your ways and he will direct your path.
We must be like Job (Job 1:22), even we he lost it all and his wife told him to curse God and die, he did not.
Job questioned God during his "pity party" and God's first response to Job was:
Who is this that questions my wisdom" (Job 38).
We have to trust God and know that he laid the foundation of earth, he commands the sun to rise and set each day. He directs the movement of the stars and the sequence of the seasons. He is God Almighty. He created us and we must trust in his creation. If we lose it all he is still God, trust in him and love him, for he will always have our hand. Everything we have God has given us. We were naked when we arrived and everything has a season (Job 1:21).

In all things praise the Lord (1 Thes 5:18)!

Pray
Our Father you are sovereign. You keep the ocean inside its boarder. You shout at the clouds and cause it to rain. You direct the movement of the stars and provide food for ravens. You have created us, and are shaping us. Forgive us for not trusting in your perfect plan for our lives. Give us a willing heart, a heart for you. In Jesus name. Amen
